The WebRes booking and reservation environment consists of a range of individual software components, which can be implemented in isolation or integrated together. One of these components is the XML interface, which is designed to provide a common real-time quotation, booking and payment interface to multiple ferry operators. In addition to the basic Unicorn functions, best price can also be obtained by specifying the route, date and time. The physical communications interface to WebRes.xml uses TCP/IP over the Internet. The physical interface from WebRes.xml to individual ferry operators is via either X25 or TCP/IP.
