SeaFrance choose WebRes X25 ferry booking solution

SeaFrance choose WebRes X25 ferry booking solution

07 October 2011

SeaFrance contacted Entee for a solution following their decision to cease the provision of their X25 Unicorn interface in Q4 2011, due to infrastructure and organisational changes. From this time SeaFrance will only support Unicorn over IP. This sales channel currently represents a significant amount of business for the company so a fast-to-market and reliable solution had to be found urgently.

Entee proposed the creation of a `pass thru' X25-to-IP conversion facility to enabling selected agents (unable to move from legacy platforms due to system constraints or high costs) to continue to connect using their existing X25 interface but to physically transact with the Sea France system over IP via Entee's servers. Thanks to the innovative solution, quick implementation timescales and value-for-money pricing, SeaFrance chose Entee.

The interface is based on key components from Entee's WebRes system which already interface to all major European ferry operators. These components have been in use since the 1990s by some of world's leading ferry distribution sites such as aferry.com and ferrysavers.com.

SeaFrance, an SNCF subsidiary, is the only French ferry operator on the Dover to Calais route. It operates a fleet of three ferries and one freighter providing almost 200 crossings between England and France. The SeaFrance Moliere, SeaFrance Berlioz and SeaFrance Rodin have a capacity to carry from 1,200 to 1,900 passengers, 110 to 120 trucks and 480 to 700 cars. The SeaFrance Nord-Pas-de-Calais, exclusively a freight ship, also provides additional sailings for the cargo market.

In 2010, SeaFrance carried approximately 15% of all tourist traffic on the Dover route, and 20% of all freight vehicles.
